Can you complain about free??

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005
Rarely do I have to go into our office in NYC, but this week I am delivering a training class there.  It takes me about 30 minutes to get to the parking garage, then about another 20 minutes to walk to the office.  That’s without traffic.  On a bad day with traffic it can take 2-3 hours to get to the garage.  CRAZY!!

Anyway, the company pays for the parking which is kind of cool and saves me $13/day.  Not too bad.  The garage is about 10 regular blocks away (includes long city blocks) which on a 90 degree day with a heat index of over 100 can seem like 100 miles!  Needless to say getting to the garage and being treating horribly is not fun at all.  The past few times I have been there it has taken the attendants at least 15 minutes to get the car.  Today when I got there at 7pm (well after business hours) the line was about 10 people deep to get cars.  This place is understaffed and they are not doing anything about it except taking in more cars than they can handle.  The guys who get the cars are frustrated and it shows with the way they handle customers.  When I finally got my car close to 30 minutes later, there was a line of cars waiting to exit the garage because the ticket system and exit lift gate was acting up.  A lady had to stand there and manually swipe her access card to have the gate raised.  Well come my turn to exit, she decides its her time to leave.  The gate was up but then closed in front of me as I started to accelerate.  Then people start honking at me because the gate won’t open and I had to get the moron that left.

The service at this place has gone way down hill over the past month.  The attendants have no idea that I don’t pay for the parking and I regularly tip them.  Since I am not paying for the service, do I have a right to be angry or complain?

I haven’t blog’ed in a long @ss time.  I used to have one on my site, but never kept up with it.  Maybe if I get more time in the next few months I can get back to it.

So what’s going on in my life…

I am engaged to an awesome girl that I have known for a very long time.
I am going to Grad School trying for a Masters of Science in Computer Information Systems with a focus in Security.
Got a house in the town I grew up in.
Have a great job.
…and I am still working my butt off!

But I couldn’t be happier
