Could you turn that up, I can’t hear it!

Friday, July 7th, 2006
What is it with some people and blasting their music with their crappy headphones on?? Honestly if you have to turn up the volume so much that everybody in the elevator can hear every note being played in a song, you are either completely deaf, inconsiderate, or your headphones just plain suck. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say it’s the latter. I would strongly recommend picking up a set of noise cancelling/isolating headphones. I recently picked up the Shure e3c earbuds and they have been the best thing I have purchased in a while. at first it’s strange having to stick the earbud so far into your ear canal, but man once it’s in you can barely hear the outside world. I am now listening to music at about 1/5 the volume that I used to and everything is a lot clearer and sounds even better. So to you "Mr. Really loud music through your headphones guy", pick up some better headphones. Your ear drums and people around you will thank you.

Visit to Ground Zero

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

Yesterday I was onsite with a customer in Jersey City and I ran into some hardware issues on my laptop. I needed to go into the MS NYC office to have it checked out. I took the path train from Exchange Place to the WTC stop. I had not been on this line to the end since 9/11. I had absolutely no idea that the station was open to the pit of Ground Zero. It was a bazaar and eerie feeling walking through the station to jump on the next train. There was nothing but silence as the others walked through. Granted it was mid-day, but there were still at least 100 people going through there and not one of them was talking above a whisper. Quite understandable, as people pay their respects to those that lost their lives that day.
