What ever happened to talking to the patient?
Monday, October 22nd, 2007Let me start with what happened last Monday. I went to the doctor for my yearly check up and she supposidly electronically sent a prescription to CVS Pharmacy in River Edge. When I got to CVS pharmacy in River Edge, pharmacist Gary Rich stated there was no prescription in the system. He said since it was after hours he would call her the following day to see what happened. Well, a week has gone by since I was at CVS because I was out of town. One would think that is enough time to get the prescription filled. When I went to the pharmacy tonight Gary Rich was on duty again. He said, “We called the doctor three times and she never called back”.
I said, “No one called to inform me of the difficulties contacting the doctor, maybe I could have helped from my end”
Gary then stated “Ya know Susan, we have a lot of mouths to feed and can’t take care of everyone.”
Well I said, “I will be switching to another pharmacy that has a little more personal care.”
Whatever happened to the neighborhood pharmacy that knew and cared about their patients. It wasn’t a big deal because the prescription was for my allergies and not urgent, but what about the sick and elderly who rely on medications to keep them well. Are they told by Gary at CVS pharmacy in River Edge, New Jersey “there are too many mouths to feed”?
